Team - I think i found a spot near my house in the city where i will be able to fly fish for stripers.  Has anyone ever tried the city waters before.  I was just going to use my 8 weight with a sinking leader and streamers.  Any thoughts?  Let me know if anyone has had any experiences with this or lives in the city would like to try it out with me one night.

I used to know a guy who fished right down in the harbor and industrial areas, or thereabouts.  He caught fish, and even once had some people give him money thinking he was homeless or something (no freaking idea?).  Anyway, I havent spoken to him in years so I am no help.

i guess fish the structure, like docks or rockwalls.  and night time might be a good time to try.

I used to fish around Fort McHenry and caught a lot of fish. Not huge, but it was fun.  Full sink lines- sink tips weren't good.

Hugh - did you ever fish inside the fort?  I have heard different things about fishing there.  The only time i tried it some cops kicked me out.

i have fished in the Baltimore harbor before with a buddy of mine(we call it the ghetto spot lol and you will know why when/if you ever fish there.) Its called Port Covington off of Hanover street bridge by the ship yard. Parking behind the walmart and sams club. I have caught a few stripers there and apparently there have been some big fish pulled out of here (30") but mostly around the 3lb to 5lb range and some big blues too. I will say its not a very pretty place to be but there are fish to be had. I couldnt tell you if there are any fish in there now but if you see people down there then you will probably find fish. good luck and hope this helps a little.
If you have a kayak or a small boat you will have much better success. Bring a 7-8 wt. and a full sink line.

  keep em' tight,
